Candle meditation which is also known as “trataka” in Sanskrit language which means to gaze is one of the most powerful forms of meditation. Step #1 – Finding a quiet place

The first step to practice candle meditation to find a quiet and peaceful place. It could be your personal room where you can sit comfortable or any peaceful corner of your home.

Step #2 – Pick a candle

Now pick a candle with a calming scent and place it on the center of any small table. Don’t use candles with intensive scent since they may distract you from your undivided focus.

Step #3 – Light the candle and start gazing at the flame

The third step is when you light the candle and sit right opposite it. Position yourself approximately 1 meter away from the candle. Now start gazing at the candle’s flame and gradually let go of all the thoughts in your mind. An unsteady movement of the flame will help you maintain your focus and gradually bring you to a meditative state, calming your mind.

Step #4 – Start meditating

Once you reach the state complete calmness start meditating by focusing on any mantra or you can also imagine the candle’s flame and focus on it constantly. Allow yourself to be fully present in the moment, let go of everything and be in the receptive mode.

If you are a beginner, you can practice this daily for at least 10 minutes and then you can gradually increase the duration of the overall practice for more profound results.
